Drew Meekins is a highly accomplished figure skating coach and choreographer, celebrated for his work with both singles and pair skaters, and his contributions to the Olympic stage.
As an athlete, Drew was a five-year member of Team USA, earning multiple national and international medals. With partner Julia Vlassov, he achieved a top-ten global ISU ranking and won the 2006 World Junior Pair Championship.
Drew's coaching impact is significant. In 2018, his choreography for Mirai Nagasu made its Olympic debut, where Nagasu landed the first American woman's triple axel at the Olympics, contributing to a team bronze medal for the US. He also choreographed for Camden Pulkinen, who won silver at the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final in 2018 and returned to the final.
He coached Vincent Zhou to a gold medal at the 2017 World Junior Championships, a senior US Championship silver medal, an Olympic team gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Games, and an ISU World bronze medal.
Most recently, Drew coached Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea to the 2024 US senior pair skating championship, with his students also winning at the junior level. His skaters secured silver and bronze medals in pairs at the 2024 ISU World Junior Championship and bronze at the 2024 ISU Continental Championships. For the past two years, he's been selected as a coach for the world team.
Drew's holistic coaching philosophy emphasizes both technique and artistry, prioritizing the transformative life skills the sport offers, from grassroots development to the Olympic stage.
